Hello and welcome to my 'Stay Fierce' T-shirt project! My name is Cat and I am a French-Australian illustrator, running my practice from a leafy suburb North of Melbourne.
So, what is this all about you might wonder?
In amongst the Covid disruptions, heartache and general surrealist vibe of life as we know it, I felt my creativity shut down. Instead of transmitting through drawing, my energy was sucked up by shadowy existential dilemmas. ‘What’s the point of it all?’ ‘What is my purpose again?’ ’What can we look forward to?’ Etc, etc… I could barely lift my hand to hold a pencil. Utterly exhausted.
Did you feel it too?
When our walls are shrinking, when the people and experiences that shape our identity are removed from our daily life, how do we redefine ourselves? Where do we find hope and clarity? How do we reframe our place into the world and cultivate our true nature? So many questions!
Yet I know this: the feedback may not be immediate, but the unique expression that comes from your Heart Centre will be heard and is very much needed. It is a wonderful process of growth to embrace doubt and all the possibilities it has to offer.
And so here I am, in my full dorky and open-hearted manifestation, practically eating blossoms and kissing bees, definitely not having all the answers, but here to tell you that our dreams are not dead! Trusting our magic, shining our light, now that’s what I call being fierce!
I’ve tried to distil all of this into the tee design that you see here, firstly to cheer myself up, but also in the hope that it will remind you how amazing you are!
